functional feet workshop

Restore lost foot function and improve the health of your feet and your body.

In this two hour workshop, you will learn how shoes affect foot function, how to mobilise and strengthen your feet, (there are 33 joints in each foot and 25% of your bones reside in the foot!) and how to evaluate and fine tune your movement habits. You will gain an understanding of why you may have foot problems, why feet that do not articulate well can lead to knee or hip issues and what you can do about it. You will come away with a set of tools that support the healthy function of your feet and your body.

Bunions, heel pain, hammer toes, neuromas, metatarsalgia and the dreaded plantar fasciitis are just some of the many common ailments that we seem to accept as part of life these days. This does not have to be the case! Foot pain seems to be the norm for many people and has an effect on not just your feet but your whole body. In my experience, feet are one of the most overlooked body parts but feet that are strong and mobile are a critical part of helping us to age well.

You will be on your feet most of the time and the workshop will involve simple exercises and movements. If you have feet, this workshop is for you!

your hips don’t lie! workshop

muldoon squat bp.jpg

Maybe your back hurts when you sit or stand for a long time or when you walk for long periods? Maybe your back feels fine but your beginning to notice a loss of mobility in your hips and you are associating this with getting older. This workshop will help you to understand why and help you to restore movement to our very underused hips.

We sit so much these days that we have lost the ability to articulate well at the hip joint or, said another way, spend time in a single position and a lot of our movement happens higher up in the lower back instead. We tend to become stuck in one position and adapt to a single position while losing mobility elsewhere as a result.

I don’t think I need to tell you how important hip health is as we get older. Use it or lose it applies and most of us are not moving at the hip joint, not loading the bones as needed and not moving the areas in and around these very important joints. Through movements and exercises we will explore the relationship between your hips and your lower back and move through many ranges of motion.

Join me in freeing your hips at this 2 hour workshop.

upper body strength WORKSHOP

tree hanging.JPG

We won’t be climbing trees! However, this workshop will set you on a path to better upper body mobility and strength. This in turn will get you better blood flow and oxygen delivery. We will begin to transition our underused hands, arms and shoulders into parts that can help you move through life without hurting yourself. The exercises will help you identify your sticky spots and using alignment as a tool wake up the parts of you that are sleeping.

This blog on upper body strength includes a video of one of the exercises we will practise in the workshop as a taster. An exercise that might look easy but is surprisingly challenging for many. This will be a small group, no more than 6 people, to ensure personal attention. Follow the link below to book your place.
